Sacred Days - January 6, 2021

Sacred Days - January 6, 2021 2:17 PM / Jessie

You might have come across people talking about sacred days or even months of certain gods and wondered where they came from or which days and months are sacred to which gods. Well, I’m here to break all that down for you!

Firstly, it is particularly important to talk about the “where they came from” question. Full disclosure that most of these are actually Roman, only the Days of the Month section are Greek in nature. But considering the relationship between the Hellenic Pantheon and the Roman Pantheon, we find ourselves swapping and adapting things from one another often. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that especially since the Ancient Greeks were known to do the same with the cultures they interacted with. However, I do believe it is extremely important for us to know and acknowledge what is Greek in origin and what isn’t.

This is purely meant to be a guide and in no way are you required to follow this completely or at all. Remember your worship is yours and you are free to build it however way you choose.

Don’t see your god on this post? No worries! I’ll be making a separate post explaining how you can go about creating your own sacred days for deities that don’t have any.
